Scott Michael Robertson

Mr. Robertson is a self-advocate on the autism spectrum living in central Pennsylvania. He self-diagnosed as an Asperger's autistic individual in 1999 and received a clinical diagnosis from the Penn State Psychological Clinic in 2005. He currently attends a Ph.D. program in information sciences and technology at Penn State. Mr. Robertson’s dissertation research there is focusing on how online communities can support the transition to college for students on the autism spectrum. He is affiliated with numerous autism and disability organizations. He currently serves as the vice president of The Autistic Self-Advocacy Network (www.autisticadvocacy.org), as a board member of ASCEND in Philadelphia (www.ascendgroup.org), and as a member of advisory committees for Pennsylvania's state Bureau of Autism Services and the National Community of Practice on Collaborative School Behavioral Health. Mr. Robertson has presented frequently on topics concerning autism, disabilities, and advocacy against bullying at schools, conferences, and organizations throughout the U.S. A number of these presentations have focused on the transition to college for students on the autism spectrum. Scott has also previously taught and mentored adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum.
